After starting PEI Stormwatch over 10 years ago I never thought it would become as popular as it did. PEI Stormwatch has always been a hobby of mine, a place for Islanders and visitors alike to find information on school cancellations and delays as well as road conditions, wide spread power outages and public safety advisories. I had one goal in mind when I created PEI Stormwatch, to post information not easily found online.
School Boards, businesses and even Government have become more active on social media, something that was not common 10 years ago. Now that information can easily be found on social media directly from the source (and most information posted in a timely manner), I feel that PEI Stormwatch has done it's job, filled that void that was missing. It's time to hang up the hat for PEI Stormwatch, time to say goodbye.
I would like to say Thank you for your support over the past 10 years and would like to wish each of our 55,000+ followers (Facebook and Twitter combined) all the best. Thank you to the numerous volunteers who have helped post information and police the comments. Your dedication did not go unnoticed. Thank you to the businesses who have noticed the importance of having a strong social media presence, YOU ROCK!
Most importantly, thank you to my friends and family. 10 years.... Every snowflake, every clap of thunder, every
slippy road. Glued to my phone or computer. I cannot thank you enough for your support and understanding.
Kind regards and all the best,
